While Google’s voice assistant works with all of Insane Audio’s Android-based head units, this write-up is specific to Android 6.0 on the JK2001. To start, let's get the voice assistant standing by, waiting for your commands. Under Settings->Google->Search->Voice, enable "Ok Google" detection from any screen.

Test it out by saying "OK Google". Then say "Open Radio".

You can open any app like Insane NavEngine, Torque and InsaneEQ, even when your head unit is not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Suppose you're rolling along the trails, and you need to monitor your cameras. Just say "OK Google, open RockCam".

Have you ever had an idea pop up in your head while you’re on your commute? Then jot it down by saying "OK Google, note to self" and then start dictating.

Your Insane Audio head unit will remember the note, and when available, sync with Gmail over Wi-Fi.
How about a reminder? Then say something like "OK Google, remind me to change the oil in three months".

Suppose you just got off a call, and now you need to save a meeting? Then say "OK Google, set up a meeting". You can even replace the word "meeting" for "appointment" or just plain "event".

If you want to play music, your Insane Audio head unit gives you some options. Saying "OK Google, open Music" would start the Music app playing where you left off in your SD card or USB thumb drive.

Saying "OK Google, open iPod" does the same if you have an iPod or iPhone connected.

Of course, your Insane Audio head unit is more powerful when it's connected to the Internet. If you had already read our post about Spotify, then there's a chance you installed it. To make Spotify your active music player, say "OK Google, open Spotify".

Then you can say something like "OK Google, play Stairway to Heaven", where you replace "Stairway to Heaven" with the title of your favorite song. A more reliable command would be "OK Google, play Stairway to Heaven with Spotify" to prevent a competing app like Google Play Music from taking control of the "play" command.

From now on, you can just say "OK Google, play [song] by [artist]" and Spotify will start playing music. No typing or scrolling!
This works with various other music players like Google Play Music and BlackPlayer, another popular Android MP3 player. If it’s installed, then make BlackPlayer your active music player by saying "OK Google, open BlackPlayer".

Follow that with a command like "OK Google, play Daft Punk" where "Daft Punk" can be any artist or album or a specific song title in your library.

No need to comb through a long listing of files.
You can search for video, too! If you installed YouTube, say "OK Google, play the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer with YouTube".

You do need the Internet for the voice assistant to recognize the names of titles, artists, and albums. So when you’re ready, you can say "OK Google, turn on Wi-Fi" to connect to an available network.
The voice assistant is a powerful complement to your Insane Audio head unit. Sure, its touch screen display is smooth and responsive, but now you can keep your hands on the wheel, and speak naturally with your Insane Audio head unit!
